Inheriting the mānā from his father 'Ai'ai goes throughout the islands establishing Kū'ula (fishing alters). The stones he placed brought an abundance of fish and prosperity to the area. The spine of the wana and hā'uke'uke is a physical manifestation of Kū and is used for medicine and accompanied by prayers addressed to him. This design represents abundance, the ability to provide, strength, skill and knowledge.
